I Have a Problem with Joe Jackson

JJacksonI have a problem with Joe Jackson. No, I don’t personally know Joe Jackson, but in my opinion he is one of those fellas who you can smell the jerk oozing through his pours. I may be wrong, but I believe that having Joe Jackson as a father was a major contribution to Michael Jackson’s “issues”.  I know that MJ fans hate to admit that Michael had some “issues”, but let’s face facts, he did.

I think these issues began way back in the day when Poppa Joe decided that his boys would form a group and make him some money. Joe Jackson claims that the movie  The Jacksons was not a completely true picture of life in the Jackson home, but most people, myself included, believe that Joe was nothing to play with. He claims that he never beat his children  and that as a matter of fact, Katherine, their mother spanked the children more than he did, since he was away from home a lot, working two jobs. I can believe that Katherine spanked….and I can definitely believe that Joe beat.

jjackson1Then there has been Joe’s heinous behavior since Michael Jackson passed away. At the BET Awards 2009 Joe was interviewed on the red carpet and he showed no compassion and honestly seemed as if he had no clue as to how the rest of his family was doing. Neither did he show much concern or signs of grief for losing a son. Not only did he seem detached from the happenings of the family, but Joe seemed to care more about his own “career.” While being interviewed by John Lemon of CNN Joe Jackson went on to give a shameless plug of his new record company and had his publicist to read a prepared statement.

It has also been said that  Joe has approached Michael’s children in an attempt to have them form a music group and do some touring. Joe says this is a bunch of jive, but in my opinion showing no compassion for the death of your own son is more than a  bunch of jive.

Video of Joe on the red carpet acting like a jive turkey.

Regardless of what Joe has to say, there is some underlying reason why his son would write him out of his will. There has to be some reason his wife of over fifty years lives in one home and he lives in another. There definitely is a problem and I think that problem is Joe Jackson!

Reason # 15874 Why we ♥ Michelle Obama

Reason # 15874 Why we ♥ Michelle Obama=She is NORMAL

M Obama double dutchHave you seen the pictures of the First Lady Michelle Obama hula hoopin and jumpin’ a lil Double Dutch. If we didn’t know any better we’d think she was normal..oh right…SHE IS NORMAL..and in my opinion that is one of the main reasons I am soooo proud to have a down to earth, relatable 1st Lady.

I admire Mrs. Obama. She remains grounded even though her husband is the President of the United States of America. She is still a mother and wife and she can still relate to the people. I can’t say that for the previous first ladies. Not only did they appear unapproachable and stiff, but I doubt you would have caught either one of them out on the front lawn of the White House with a hula hoop or a jump rope. Can you imagine Barbara Bush doing anything with a hula hoop besides putting it away?  However OUR first lady said bring it on, she got out there and gave it a go. Reports say she didn’t do so well with jumping rope double dutch, but I bet you anything even if they had tossed out a lil hot peas she would have tried it too. You go Michelle. (Look at me calling her by her first name like I know her personally lol, but thats just how down to earth she seems, and oh btw, cute outfit Michelle 🙂

The festivities that took place on the front lawn of the White House were not just for fun. They were part of The Healthy Kids Fair, hosted on October 21, 2009 by none other than the First Lady herself. Mrs. Obama invited about one hundred children and parents from local elementary schools to attend.  The fair was intended to encourage children to be more active and eat better. It included exercise activities and a chef preparing healthy foods on the front lawn of the White House.  Mrs. Obama spoke to the children about eating healthy and emphasized that you can have fun while eating healthy!

Memphis Child Dies in House Fire After Being Left Home Alone :(

Update to this story

The second child from this story, the 2 year old has since passed away. The mother, Melanie Dunn, who left the two and three year old boys home alone has still not be charged with anything. The District Attorney’s office says they are still reviewing the file and is waiting on more crucial information to the case before they make a decision.

Some things arthumb_1256009482606_0p8113213528964526e more than upsetting….they are disturbing. When I heard this story on the news I gasped. (House Catches Fire Killing 3yr Old Child After the 2 and 3 Yr Old Were Left Home Alone). I cannot believe that someone could care so less about human life that they could neglect two precious children and have no remorse about one being killed and the other being in critical condition.

If you watched the video you see the great aunt speak on what happened to these children as if it were nothing. As if to say oh well, they shouldn’t have started that fire. Oh and btw I need my food stamp card, I hope it wasn’t burned in the fire. Excuse my language but Bitch are you Crazy???   Your hot mess ass and your triflin hot mess niece shouldn’t have left two toddlers home alone to take care of themselves.

Personally I think the community should have gotten together, whipped both their asses while the news filmed it. Either that or they should have both been tossed in the fire after they casually strolled back on the scene AFTER the house was on fire and the children were being rushed to the ER. Then the police should have arrested the mother and the great aunt and threw both their asses underneath the jail.

When did taking care of your children, supporting them and protecting them become an option?

Stories like this bother me way deep down in my soul because these children were innocent. Even if they did something to start the fire, they were not old enough to be left alone nor  were they old enough to know right from wrong. It was the responsibility of their mother to take care of them and protect them. Not to leave them alone to fend for themselves while she did some shopping.

Then the audacity of the snaggle toothed aunt to speak to the news stating that not only did they leave the two children alone when the fire started, but they had also left them alone earlier in the day. Which means that these two babies were probably left alone countless times.

The family stated that  the mother Melanie Dunn is the single mother of three children….

ok what does that mean?  That is no excuse for her stupid decision to neglect her children. She still knew not to leave those children alone and needs to be punished to the highest degree for her actions.

I am sooooo sick of parents forgetting that they have a responsibility to take care of their children and do right by them. It is not an option or a choice it is your DUTY.

I pray that the child who is in the hospital recovers and he and his older brother are placed in the home of someone who can take care of them and put their needs first.

Racism Today (Post 3)

2008-02-12-onetouchfeb12200811

I am beginning to sway towards the belief that a blatant racist is better than an undercover, throw a rock and hide your hand racist any day…. Either way a racist is a racist, but if you have this belief why hide behind the camouflage of sarcasm and idiotic comments.

Have you noticed that both undercover and blatantly racist people can somehow throw Barack Obama into any conversation?

It is quite annoying to me that you can be holding a simple conversation about something as simple and nonpolitical as the weather, and somehow these people (who immediately put it on the table that they are not racist and do not support racism) will somehow throw in their distaste for Barack Obama.  Weren’t we talking about the weather?

There are far more people in the “Rush Limbaugh Is Our Hero” clique than we think or would like to believe and honestly it is becoming more and more disturbing by the day how so many people refuse to own up to their racism. If you dislike Barack Obama because of his race…umm that probably means that you are a racist. So when you say things constantly about Barack Obama in clearly unrelated conversations your racism shines through like a shiny new penny.

African American supporters of Barack Obama have been labeled as extremist.  It has been said by many non supporters that black people have deemed Barack Obama as the New Jesus. Somewhere along the lines our confidence in Obama and our pledged support have been scandalized and wrongly reflected as closely mimicking idolism. These people believe that the majority of black people who voted for and support Barack Obama see him as our savior. That somehow we think he is going to take all of our worries away  and deliver us from the troubles of this world which includes our car note, our mortgage, unemployment, depression, flu, money problems, bad relationships, long term illnesses, unpaid doctor bills, dwindling savings, alcoholism, drug addiction, headaches etc, you get the picture.

Much of this nonsense stems from racist people who instead of stating their reasons for not supporting Obama they turn their distaste towards those that do support him and this distaste is often reflected in their idiotic statements and behavior.

Here is a video from one of the greatest douchebags alive, Rush Limbaugh. This video is a classic example of a racist giving his political thoughts which are primarily based on his own personal racist opinion and not the facts. But honestly this kind of behavior is expected of Limbaugh.  He is one of the most racist men alive and unlike some racist people there is no hesitancy for him to open his mouth and publicly display his ignorance and high level of loserism.

In the video Limbaugh talks about his suspicions of Barack Obama. Would he have been so suspicious had Barack Obama been a white, qualified candidate running for President? Of course not!

Chris Brown & Rihanna (my two cents)

2007_6_betawards1We have all seen and heard the mountain of news stories, radio talk shows, blog posts etc concerning the incident between Rihanna and Chris Brown. Media outlets such as TMZ  and Access Hollywood have had day to day coverage on the story. For a while I stopped paying attention because it was becoming too much of a media circus. The truth has become too far and beyond and the here say and exaggeration overpowered the real issues of the case.

For those of you who know me personally you know that I take domestic violence very seriously. I in no way support abusers and I take a strong stand against violence against women.

With that being said, I would like to first address  the fact that I along with everyone except Chris Brown and Rihanna were not present the night of the incident. We are only partakers of what the news media chooses to report. What has been reported ranges from allegations of Rihanna giving Chris Brown herpes, to Rihanna attacking Chris Brown in the car because Leona Lewis text him. Then there was the story that it wasn’t Leona Lewis, but another woman that text Chris Brown that sent Rihanna into a frenzy that led her to hit Chris Brown with her shoe. The stories have been never-ending and recently it was reported that Rihanna has decided to tell the police the true story about the night’s events. This story includes a woman texting Chris Brown, Rihanna becoming enraged and attacking him as he drove. Chris tried to get control of her while remaining in control of the car and the fight ensued. This led to both parties throwing blows in the moving vehicle and outside of the vehicle.

The many comments I have heard and seen concerning Rihanna’s decision to remain in a relationship with someone who allegedly  beat her have been for the most part negative and ignorant. When a woman stays with an abusive partner there are underlying issues and that issue is not just the fact that she loves him. If you allow someone to physically abuse you it is guaranteed that you have some emotional issues going on as well. Physical abuse and emotional abuse go hand in hand. Even if the abuser isn’t saying things that have you emotionally distressed the victim’s own self esteem issues feelings of worthlessness are .  Many people wonder why and how a woman can continue to love and stay with a man that abuses her, but if you are an emotional wreck and don’t really know where to turn or how to get out of the situation, you will remain in the situation. Many times women are embarrassed to seek help. So many times women hear all of the negative remarks about women remaining in these situations being stupid and deserving what they get, they are afraid to speak up and seek help for themselves.

The news has also reported that Brown is now seeking a plea deal in which he would not have to serve any jail time. This could only happen if the federal charges he is facing are dropped to misdemeanors. How could the courts allow that to happen, well if the recent reports are true and Rihanna is going to admit to initiating the fight by slapping Chris Brown first, then proceeding to hit him in the face with her shoe the felony charges have a great chance of being reduced to misdemeanors because of Rihanna’s actions. For many people the news of the plea deal is shocking, but as I stat4ed before, we don’t know the whole or true story, so in the end we have two adults who have decided that regardless of what happened that night they want to be together….that is their choice.

Diddy who is friend to both Rihanna and Brown recently caught flack for allowing the pair to reconcile at his Miami home. While on the  Ellen DeGeneres Show Diddy talked about his decision to allow the couple to spend time together at his home.

Here is the video of Diddy explaining his reasoning behind his decision

In my opinion the media’s attack of Diddy over this is ridiculous. Rihanna and Chris Brown are adults. If they come to a friend and ask a favor, why wouldn’t he grant that favor. How many of us in our everyday lives have known that our friends relationships had major problems and we allowed them time to talk it out. Not because we approved of any negative behavior, but because we were their friend.

Then there is the entire show that Oprah dedicated to the topic of Dating Violence & Battered Women. Oprah is beginning to pluck my last nerve. I know that many of you are strong supporters of Oprah Winfrey but I am not for many reasons. I won’t go into detail here because that would be an entire blog entry in itself, but I will say that sometimes we need to realize that everything isn’t our business. Everything isn’t an opportunity for us to speak up and speak out on, especially if we are going to make accusations and pass judgments when we don’t know the facts.

Along with Oprah was Tyra Banks, who recounted on the show her own personal battle with and abusive boyfriend. Banks stated that the boyfriend was not physically abusive, but was very jealous, controlling and emotionally abusive.

Banks and Winfrey’s message was that Love Doesn’t Hurt and that if a man hits you once he will hit you again. Winfrey went on to say that regardless of if Rihanna hit Brown first, he had no right to hit her.

I know I may get ridiculed for this, but I don’t agree with that statement. I in no way approve of men battering women, but human nature does not always allow the first reaction of walking away. It is 100% wrong for a man to hit a woman, just as it is 100% wrong for a woman to hit a man. We should all live by the golden rule we learned way back in kindergarten which is “everyone keep their hands to their self’. This action will keep everyone out of trouble. Now in the event that a woman does hit a man he should walk away. But how many times can you walk away from someone hitting you? How many times have the people who are passing judgment just sucked it up and walked away when someone/anyone hit them? So just as Chris Brown is being verbally pounded and chastised for laying hands on Rihanna if she started the attack, she also needs to be counseled and talked to profusely about keeping her hands to herself.

I know that many people who are watching the news coverage of the Chris and Rihanna ordeal was swayed to believe everything the news reports. It is hard not to look at Chris Brown as a monster who deserves to be thrown underneath the jail. But I can personally speak on behalf of abused women and I can also speak on behalf of one of the many people who witness on a regular basis women who cannot control their anger when it comes to their man. Just as I have a personal account of being a battered woman I also know many women who will throw blows and start fights with men and live this dramified life every day.

To end this I would like to say that Domestic Violence is wrong…end of story.

But for those of us who were not there we can’t say how it happened, who started it and what the outcome should be. For our own lives are oftentimes not as much of a clean slate as we would like them to be. If we can throw stones at Chris Brown for hitting a woman and we can ridicule Rihanna for reconciling with him, we should also throw stones at our self for the bad relationship we remained in for way too long. We should ridicule our self for slapping our ex boyfriend because we found out he was cheating. We should reminisce on each time we started drama and lived to tell about it because each one of those incidents could have been one where someone took our drama serious and ended our life.

The NY Post defends running racist cartoon by Sean Delonas

400http3a2f2fd_yimg_com2fa2fp2fap2f200902182fcapt_ea1cf7fd72734031a84bdce41da4f654_ny_post_cartoon_nyr101 AP

Civil rights leaders and a multitude of others have come forth speaking out against the cartoon by artist Sean Delonas which was run in the New York Post on February 18, 2009. The cartoon has been called offensive, racist and insensitive.

Mr. Delonas however has stated that these accusations are ridiculous and that the cartoon is about the economic stimulus bill and in no way is indicating that President Barack Obama should be shot. The editor-in-chief of the New York Post, Col Allan had this to say,”The cartoon is a clear parody of a current news event.”

However that explanation is not acceptable to those (myself included) who have taken offense to the cartoon which shows two white police officers standing over a dead chimpanzee that that have just shot and killed. The caption states “They will have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill.’

How the New York Post or the cartoon artist can rebut the fact that the cartoon is offensive and has racist undertones is beyond belief.  Even with The New York Post adding that the cartoon also plays wit to the woman attacked by a chimpanzee in Connecticut it still does not satisfy those who are not willing to accept any excuses for the cartoon’s insensitivity or the New York Post bad judgment call. First let’s examine the facts:

  • President Barack Obama wrote the stimulus bill mentioned in the cartoon caption.
  • President Barack Obama is of African descent.
  • Throughout history and to present time, monkeys, chimpanzees and other primates of the ape family have been used to downgrade and dehumanize the African American race.
  • The cartoon shows a dead chimp, killed by two white officers who are stating that someone else will have to write the next stimulus bill.

There is no way to deny that the cartoon is blatantly racist. I won’t even downplay it by saying it has racial undertones, no it is blatantly racist and in my opinion the New York Post needs to make a public apology to everyone who may have been offended by the cartoon’s offensive artistry and caption. It showed bad judgment on part of The New York Post when the cartoon was okayed to be placed as part of the newspaper’s printing.

Reverend Al Sharpton, Marc Morial (National Urban League President), Barbara Ciara (President of the National Association of Black Journalists) and others are speaking out and demanding that the New York Post clarify what point the cartoon actually makes since the post has denied that it has any racial inferences.

Another note: This is not the first time artist Sean Delonas has had his work called offensive or insensitive. He is the same artist who has been ridiculed for his cartoons on gay marriage licenses and the ex-wife of Paul McCartney who has one leg. President Barack Obama

Barack Obama- Hope for what was seemingly Lost

19064568-19064570-large

Not too long ago the hope of ever seeing a black man become president of the United States of America was sullen… for many there was no hope, even the dreams that some clung on to were tattered and fading. For countless years they had heard of and/or witnessed the discrimination and inequality that for many had become a way of life. These people were strong people, determined people, people who wanted justice, were grateful for their freedom and knew how long and tiresome the fight had been. They knew Rosa’s story, some marched with Martin when he fought the good fight. They believed in Martin’s dream and even though the odds were against them, they knew the fight was worth fighting. Then Martin was taken away from them. It were as if everything good that was ever given to them as a people only lasted for a season and that season was never long enough for the fight to be won.  They dreamed that one day their diminishing hope would return in the form of something real. Barack Obama is that something real.

Upon his nomination for the presidential candidacy many were skeptical. They knew there was something about him, but with years of disappointments logged in their memory banks and the only progression being millimeters instead of leaps and bounds, it wasn’t easy to believe. It was hard to believe that maybe, just maybe their something real was happening. After all, who wanted to believe again when each and every time they believed, their hope was snatched from underneath them? It was hard for those who had fought, lived through the fight or even had the fight instilled in them to believe that someone that looked like them had a chance to become the President of the United States of America. It was unforeseen that in their lifetime someone that looked like them could represent them, could understand their plight and fight for what they believed in.

It took some time, but they began to believe again. They wanted to hear what this man had to say. Not just because he looked like them, but because something about his connection to the people lured them in. Something about how his words felt right made them feel included in his fight.

They also felt a since of warmth for the notion that he loved someone who looked like them, who connected to them, who could be their mother, sister, aunt or wife.

Their Black Love was admired and respected.

19064461-19064466-large

I stand with those people whose chests are swollen with pride today. I stand with those people who truthfully didn’t foresee a black man becoming president anytime in the foreseeable future. I stand with those people who appreciate Barack Obama’s commitment to the people and admire his dedication to family and to this country.

I stand with those that know the fight continues.

Congratulations President Barack Obama!
